Baruch Berliner’s Jacob’s Dream Concerto for Violin and Orchestra: Performance in Ecuador

The piece will be performed by the Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra of Guayaquil under the baton of guest conductor Manuel Campos Loor (Ecuador), alongside the distinguished violinist Jorge Saade, widely regarded as Ecuador’s foremost violin player.

Mr. Saade has performed concerts and solo programs in 45 countries across North and South America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, gracing such renowned venues as the Royal Festival Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Sydney Opera House, the Cairo Opera House, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the Theater of Marcellus in Rome, the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, and many others.

As a guest soloist, Mr. Saade has performed with many acclaimed orchestras, including the Washington Symphony Orchestra, the Vác Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), the Belarusian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the Minsk Classic Orchestra, the national symphony orchestras of El Salvador, Honduras, Cuba, Paraguay, Guatemala, Peru, and Ecuador, the philharmonic orchestras of Qatar, Montevideo, and Bogotá, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra (Venezuela), the Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, and others worldwide.

Mr. Saade’s work has been recognized with multiple awards. In 2007, he received Ecuador’s highest state honor, the National Order of Merit, for the second time. He was named an honorary doctor by two Mexican educational establishments: IMELE University in 2016 and Morelos University in 2019. In 2018, the New York Theatre Critics Association presented him with the ACE Award for a solo concert at Carnegie Hall, which enjoyed great acclaim from both audiences and critics. Additionally, the Latin American Music Institute granted Mr. Saade the title of Ambassador of the Andean Region.

Currently, Mr. Saade serves as General Director of the Philharmonic Department of the Guayaquil Municipality, Honorary Consul of Belgium in Guayaquil, and professor of violin, viola, chamber music, and ensemble performance at Ecuador’s University of the Arts (UArtes) in Guayaquil. He is also an honorary professor at Ricardo Palma University in Lima (Peru), and at the National Conservatory of Music in Guayaquil.
