Baruch Berliner’s Fantasia Concertante, “Genesis,” to be Performed at Kaliningrad Cathedral on January 16
On January 16, Baruch Berliner’s fantasia concertante for piano and orchestra, “Genesis,” will be performed at the Kaliningrad Cathedral as part of the Symphonic Friday concert series. The composition will be presented by international competition laureate Vyacheslav Kiselev (piano) and the Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor and Priznanie prize laureate Mikhail Kirchhoff.
Dr. Kiselev graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, completing its doctoral program under National Artist of Russia, Prof. M. S. Voskresensky. He is a laureate of international competitions in Morocco and the USA (New York and Dallas), a recipient of the Russian Presidential Scholarship in 2007 and 2008, as well as a grantee of the international charitable foundations of Yuri Rozum and Elina Bystritskaya. Dr. Kiselev has participated in concerts organized by the Novye Imena Foundation and the Vladimir Spivakov Charity Foundation. Boasting an extensive repertoire, he performs in solo recitals and with chamber ensembles on the most prestigious stages in Moscow, across Russia, and internationally.
Based on the eponymous symphonic poem, the fantasia concertante for piano and orchestra recounts events described in the Old Testament.
The composition consists of four movements:
• Genesis
• Adam and Eve
• Cain and Abel (Fugue)
• The Flood and The Token of Covenant
