Baruch Berliner’s Fantasia Concertante No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra to Be Performed in China on January 1
On January 1, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra will give a New Year’s concert in Changsha, China, featuring Baruch Berliner’s fantasia concertante No. 2 for piano and orchestra. The event will be conducted by Jianan Yan, the first Chinese musician to earn a doctoral degree from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory.
Dr. Yan studied at the Moscow Conservatory, the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and the Lviv Conservatory under Leonid Korchmar, Yuri Lutsiva, and Stanislav Dyachenko. He also participated in a master class taught by conductor Benjamin Zander at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Dr. Yan currently serves as chief conductor and artistic director of the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra and is a faculty member of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music.
The piano part will be performed by Shengge Song.
