On December 3, the composition “El Maleh Rachamim,” performed by the Israeli vocal group Total Vocal, was released on all major global streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Yandex Music.
“El Maleh Rachamim” is the soundtrack to the film Address on the Wall, which depicts the World War II tragedy at Babi Yar. Written by Baruch Berliner, Nachum Slutzker, and Sergey Krutsenko (RIP), the composition inspired the Holocaust memorial project www.elmalehrachamim.com, which invites performers to record their renditions of the piece, paying tribute and honoring the memory of those who perished under the cruel policies of the Nazi regime.
Founded in 2012 in Israel, Total Vocal is distinguished for its unique style that blends elements of pop music and a cappella. The ensemble consists of professional vocalists—graduates and faculty of the Rimon School of Music in Israel—who create musical pieces with their voices, foregoing any instrumental accompaniment.
Total Vocal regularly tours both within Israel and internationally, performing at festivals and music competitions. The group focuses on original arrangements and its own compositions, often drawing inspiration from cultural heritage and contemporary musical trends.
The arrangement of was prepared by the group’s leader—arranger and vocalist Kineret Erez.
