Jacob’s Dream Violin Concerto To Be Performed in Toronto
On March 1, 2025, the violin concerto Jacob’s Dream will premiere in Toronto, Canada. This work by Baruch Berliner will be presented by virtuoso violinist Haik Kazazyan and Sinfonia Toronto under the baton of Nurhan Arman.
A principal performer of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic, Mr. Kazazyan is one of the most sought-after musicians of his generation, acclaimed at prestigious venues in Russia and abroad, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berliner Philharmonie in Germany, Victoria Hall in Geneva, and Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall in London. He has collaborated with esteemed conductors and orchestras worldwide.
Mr. Kazazyan won first prize at the 2024 Rome Classic Violin Competition. His performance earned third prize and a special prize at the 2001 Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznań, fourth prize and three special prizes at the 2002 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and third prize along with the Audience Award at the International Long–Thibaud Competition in Paris.
Sinfonia Toronto now in its 26th season, has toured twice in Europe, in the US, South America and China, receiving glowing reviews. It has released six CDs, including a JUNO Award winner, and performs in many Ontario cities. Its extensive repertoire includes all the major string orchestra works of the 18th through 21st centuries, and it has premiered many new works. Under the baton of Nurhan Arman the orchestra’s performances present outstanding international guest artists and prominent Canadian musicians.
Maestro Nurhan Arman has conducted throughout Europe, Asia, South America, Canada, and the US, returning regularly to many orchestras in Europe. Among the orchestras Maestro Arman has conducted are the Moscow Philharmonic, Deutsches Kammerorchester Frankfurt, Filarmonica Italiana, St. Petersburg State Hermitage Orchestra, Orchestre Regional d’Ile de France, Hungarian Symphony, Arpeggione Kammerorchester, Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, Milano Classica and Belgrade Philharmonic.
