The Binding of Isaac Violin Concerto To Be Performed in Kaliningrad on March 21
On March 21, the Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra will perform Baruch Berliner’s violin concerto No. 2, The Binding of Isaac, at the concert hall of the Rakhmaninov College of Music in Kaliningrad. The event is part of the Playing at 4 Frunze Street concert series.
The concerto is based on Dr. Berliner’s eponymous symphonic poem, recounting the well-known Old Testament tale in which God, testing Abraham’s devotion, bids him sacrifice his only son, Isaac.
The violin part will be performed by Nikita Borisoglebsky, Merited Artist of Russia.
A laureate of international competitions, Mr. Boriso-Glebsky is a principal performer at the Moscow Philharmonic. In 2002, he represented Russia at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition.
