«Genesis»

In his magnum opus, the symphonic poem Genesis, Dr. Berliner has adroitly blended music and religion — the two pillars of his existence.

Envisaged as a classical piece for orchestra and narrator, Genesis has evolved to become a symphonic rock poem, a piano concerto, an oratorio, a symphonic rock show and even a ballet.

The composition draws upon the biblical account of Creation, conveying the philosophical message that everyone has an equal opportunity to choose between good and evil.

One is constantly torn between good and evil, vice and virtue. And this is exactly where art can play a vital role, inspiring reflection on one’s choices, encouraging self-improvement, guiding one toward the beautiful and sublime, and fostering humanism, kindness, and tolerance.

Amid today’s uncertainty and disunity, international conflicts and tensions, the need for common ground and a shared language is greater than ever.

Fortunately, art is a masterly healer, especially in times when life puts one to the test. Uniting people and nations regardless of the tongue they speak, the color of their skin, their ethnicity, or their political beliefs, it knows no borders.

Dr. Berliner’s composition fulfills this mission beautifully, consistently earning acclaim in sundry countries. Its language is universal, just as the values conveyed in the biblical texts are shared and accepted by all.

The secret of Genesis’s success lies in its melodic beauty, intricately intertwined with neoclassical harmony.

The combination of biblical text and music is cleverly enhanced with video art created by Israeli video designer and animator Yaron Shin, aka Jewboy. Accurately aligned with the music and texts, the visual accompaniment explains why audiences and critics meet the poem with passionate enthusiasm.
