Italian Premiere of Sonata-Fantasia No. 2, “Abraham,” for Cello and Piano: Video Release

A video of the Italian premiere of Baruch Berliner’s Sonata-Fantasia No. 2, “Abraham,” for cello and piano is now available on the composer’s YouTube channel. The performance took place on February 25, 2026, in the Grand Hall of the Conservatorio Giovanni Battista Martini in Bologna.

Sonata-Fantasia No. 2 is based on the oratorio Abraham, which draws inspiration from the Old Testament story of Abraham, the forefather of the Jewish people, the eldest of the biblical patriarchs, and a foundational figure in the monotheistic tradition.

The work was performed by Grammy-nominated cellist Dmitry Yablonsky and pianist Luigi Caselli.

Mr. Yablonsky is a Israeli-American conductor and cellist, a Merited Artist of Azerbaijan, and a Grammy Award nominee in the category of Best Instrumental Soloist Performance with Orchestra.
Mr. Caselli is an Italian pianist and tenured professor at the Giovanni Battista Martini Conservatory in Bologna. He is the recipient of numerous awards from national and international competitions.
