New Video: Chinese Premiere of Baruch Berliner’s The Oriental Market
A video of the Chinese premiere of The Oriental Market by Baruch Berliner has been published on the composer’s YouTube channel. The performance took place in May 2026 in Changsha.
Dr. Berliner’s composition was presented by the Hunan Xiangjiang Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Jianan Yan.
A newly established ensemble performing widely across Hunan Province, the Hunan Xiangjiang Philharmonic Orchestra appears in major concert initiatives within the Xiangjiang New Area and contributes to a range of regional cultural events. Committed to cultivating a diverse repertoire, the orchestra actively collaborates with international talent.
Mr. Yan is a renowned Chinese conductor who leads the Kunming International Philharmonic Orchestra. The first Chinese musician to earn a doctoral degree from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, he studied under Leonid Korchmar, Stanislav Dyachenko, and Benjamin Zander. Mr. Yan is currently a professor at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music, as well as a visiting professor at Southern Utah University (USA) and the Inner Mongolia Academy of Arts. He also serves as artistic director and guest conductor of the Hunan University of Commerce Symphony Orchestra, principal guest conductor of the Russian Chamber Orchestra, and guest conductor of the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra.
