Studio recording of the Symphonic Poem “Genesis”

At the end of May, a studio recording of the Symphonic Poem “Genesis” took place in Moscow with the participation of the leading and oldest orchestra in Russia – the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra (MSSO).

The Moscow State Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1943.
Its principal conductors were the conductor of the Bolshoi Theater, People’s Artist of the USSR Lev Steinberg (1943 – 1945), famous Soviet musicians Leonid Khudoley (1945 – 1948), Nikolai Anosov (1948 – 1951), Viktor Smirnov (1951 – 1953), Leo Ginzburg (1953 – 1955), Mikhail Terian (1955 – 1960), Veronika Dudarova (1960 – 1989), Pavel Kogan (1989 – 2022).

The team has created a collection of records, including CDs and DVDs with studio and live performances, radio and television broadcasts. The series of Rachmaninov’s works published by Alto is widely known and enjoys great popularity: the interpretations of the composer’s three symphonies and “Symphonic Dances” created by the MSSO and Pavel Kogan topped the lists of all existing versions.
Due to the variety of programs and the consistently high level of their performance, the team has earned the respect and love of listeners in their country and abroad – over the past twenty-five years, MSSO has toured in more than fifty countries. The orchestra annually gives concerts in Moscow on the stages of the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, including within the framework of personal and combined subscriptions of the Moscow State Philharmonic Society. In the 2018/2019 season, on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the team made an unprecedented tour of 20 Russian cities from Moscow to Vladivostok.

During the week, Maestro Mikhail Kirchhoff, Principal Conductor of Baruch Berliner’s Genesis International Project, worked with the orchestra on the Symphonic Poem by composer Baruch Berliner and producer Nachum Slutzker, bringing the orchestra’s sound to perfection.

The release of the recording of the Symphonic Poem “Genesis” performed by MSSO is planned for the summer of 2023.
