Aleksandra Makarevich
Aleksandra Makarevich is the author of The Biblical Motif of Jacob’s Dream in Art (2024, ISBN). Her interest in exploring this theme was ignited by her encounter with “Jacob’s Dream” by the Israeli composer Baruch Berliner— a violin concerto of extraordinary emotional range. Ms. Makarevich has collaborated with Baruch Berliner’s Genesis International Project since 2022.
A trained cultural scholar, she graduated from the Russian State University for the Humanities in 2016. In 2018, she received non-degree training in art history from the Educational and Methodological Center in Kaliningrad, Russia. She was awarded advanced training certificates in museum studies in 2015 and 2016. Ms. Makarevich has been a member of the International Council of Museums since 2017. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Cultural Industries and Art Management at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.
From 2013 to 2018, Ms. Makarevich served as a curator at the Friedland Gate Museum. In this capacity, she participated in several international projects, including the Museums Over the Borders initiative and the Contemporary Urban Environment and Architectural Heritage research conference. She also spearheaded the Cinema. Culture. Kaliningrad exhibition project and managed the publication of The Museum as a Cultural Phenomenon: The Friedland Gate—History Beyond Time, History Beyond Borders (2017, ISBN 978-609-8180-26-8).
Under the auspices of Kaliningrad’s Capital Renovation Fund, Ms. Makarevich penned the book The Old Doors of the Kaliningrad Region. The Historical-Architectural Aspect and Decorative Features (2023, ISBN 978-5-6046212-1-9). The volume seeks to facilitate the understanding of the importance of de facto preservation of architectural heritage elements.
