
Luigi Caselli
Luigi Caselli was born in Bologna and began studying piano with his father at the age of 6.
At 17, he graduated with top scores from the G.B.Martini Conservatory of Bologna under the guidance of Luigi Mostacci.
Subsequently, he perfected his craft in Freiburg with Vitaly Margulis and took several master classes from Oxana Yablonskaya.
From a young age, he has been an active concert performer in Italy and abroad as a soloist, in different ensembles, and with an orchestra, and has also played on several European television and radio programs.
He has won numerous awards in various International piano competitions, such as the Milan Cortot, the Barcelona Canals, and the Vercelli Viotti.
Since 1991, he has been a member of the Baynov Piano Ensemble, an original group of European pianists whose reperto ire ranges from single-piano trios to eight-piano duos, wich has garnered unanimous public and critical praise throughout Europe, Canada and China, and with whom he has recorded various CDs and DVDs.
In 2015 he recorded a piano solo CD, for the Italian label Bongiovanni, dedicated to Aleksandr Skrjabin, celebrating the composer’s centenary of his death.
In 2025 he recorded a double CD with the flautist Daniele Ruggieri for Brilliant Classics dedicated to the composer Johann Christian Friedrich Schneider.
For many years, Luigi Caselli has accompanied his concert activity with substantial pedagogical work, which has brought him to teach in many Italian conservatories.
Currently, he is on the faculty at the G.B.Martini Conservatory in Bologna.
