The Zagreb Soloists Perform with Renowned Cellist Boris Andrianov
The Zagreb Soloists performed last night in the ceremonial hall of the Rijeka City Museum’s Sugar Refinery Palace, with renowned cellist Boris Andrianov joining them.
For the opening concert of the ninth season of the “Glazbena Rijeka” chamber music series, the ensemble presented a distinctive program. A highlight of the evening was Jacob’s Dream—a piece for cello and string ensemble by contemporary Israeli composer Baruch Berliner.
“We are proud to welcome Mr. Berliner’s producer, Nachum Slutzker, who has traveled here from Israel. This is one of four concerts we are giving as part of their tour—Pula, Rijeka, Mali Lošinj, and Zagreb,” said Daniel Gašparović, artistic and executive director of the Cristoforium arts organization.
“One might expect that the music of a contemporary composer would be more modern. But, on the contrary, it is very charming, very pleasant—almost like a film soundtrack.
“It’s very beautiful, showcasing the cello solo at its finest,” noted Sreten Krstič, concertmaster of the Zagreb Soloists ensemble,” noted Sreten Krstič, concertmaster of the Zagreb Soloists ensemble.
