Video of Austrian Premiere of Jacob’s Dream Violin Concerto Released
On August 9, the Barocksaal at Altes Rathaus in Vienna hosted the Austrian premiere of Baruch Berliner’s Jacob’s Dream violin concerto.
The concerto was performed by Russia’s National Artist Graf Mourja and the Vienna United Europe Orchestra conducted by Vasily Yurkevich.
The prodigiously talented Graf Mourja, one of the most accomplished violinists of his generation, has won numerous competitions, including the “Premio Paganini” International Violin Competition (1990), the 10th Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow (1994), and the Monte Carlo Music Masters (Violin) (2010), to name a few.
Mr. Murzha gives solo recitals and collaborates as a soloist with symphony orchestras throughout Russia and Europe, performing at prestigious concert venues.
Vasily Yurkevich is the conductor of the Governor’s Symphonic Orchestra in Pskov, Russia.
He graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory with a major in opera singing under Anatoly Kiselev in 2012, and in opera and symphonic conducting under Vladimir Altschuler in 2017. In 2020, he earned his doctoral degree from the same establishment.
Dr. Yurkevich has performed with symphonic ensembles from across Russia and abroad, including the Symphonic Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of St. Petersburg, the symphonic orchestra of the Mikhailovsky Theater, and the orchestra of the Astana State Academic Philharmonic.
