Video Premiere of Jacob’s Dream Sonata Fantasia for Viola and Piano Performed in Germany

In September 2025, Baruch Berliner’s Jacob’s Dream sonata fantasia premiered in Berlin in an arrangement for viola and piano. The piece was performed by virtuoso violist Andrey Gridchuk and pianist Mikhail Mordvinov.

Mr. Gridchuk is the principal violist of the Deutsche Oper Berlin orchestra. A sought-after soloist, he has performed in leading concert halls worldwide with such renowned ensembles as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Symphoniker Hamburg, and the English Chamber Orchestra, among many others. He has also collaborated with distinguished conductors including Yuri Bashmet, Marco Boemi, and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Mr. Mordvinov is a multiple award winner and laureate of prestigious international competitions. A soloist of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic, he also teaches at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and the Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Düsseldorf. His busy concert schedule spans Russia, most countries of Eastern and Western Europe, Japan, Korea, and the United States.
