Video Release: Jacob’s Dream Cello Concerto Performed in Zagreb
In the first days of April 2025, Croatia hosted a concert tour featuring renowned cellist Boris Andrianov, the Zagreb Soloists string orchestra, and percussionist Luis Camacho Montealegre. The musicians visited several cities, performing the cello concerto Jacob’s Dream by renowned Israeli composer Baruch Berliner.
Jacob’s Dream is a cello concerto inspired by the well-known biblical account of Jacob dreaming of a ladder ascending to Heaven, where God promises prosperity to him and his descendants. The piece has received widespread acclaim in 40 countries, including performances at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in the USA and Sala São Paulo in Brazil.
Boris Andrianov is a renowned Russian cellist who performs on the world’s largest stages and at the most prestigious festivals. Holding the title of Merited Artist of Russia, he has earned recognition at international competitions in Zagreb (Antonio Janigro Competition), Johannesburg, Hanover (Classica Nova in memory of D. D. Shostakovich, in a duet with Alexey Goribol), Paris (Mstislav Rostropovich Competition), and South Korea (Isang Yun Competition). He is also a laureate of the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition and the Triumph Youth Award.
The Zagreb Soloists String Orchestra, founded in 1953, It has become synonymous with artistic excellence and reverence for chamber music traditions. Over seven decades, they have performed in the world’s most acclaimed concert halls—from Carnegie Hall to the Musikverein—captivating audiences with their exceptional technique and flawless ensemble synergy. Their rich repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music, with a particular focus on compositions by Croatian composers.
A skilled musician and percussionist, Luis Camacho Montealegre is a recipient of numerous international awards.
The tour concluded on April 6 with a concert in Zagreb at the Croatian State Archives, and we are excited to share the video recording for your enjoyment.
