The Third International Violin Festival takes place in St. Petersburg

Virtuoso music week: the third International Violin Festival is taking place in St. Petersburg. One of the main events is a gala concert on the stage of the Philharmonic named after D.D. Shostakovich.

Recognized musicians and young performers prepared a large-scale symphony program: they performed famous works by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and rare compositions by foreign authors. For the first time in St. Petersburg, Honored Artist of Russia Graf Murzha played the violin concerto “Jacob’s Dream”.

“This concerto just exudes light, love and extraordinary beauty. You just play it and smile,” said Honored Artist of Russia Graf Murzha.

This year the festival is dedicated to the first violin of the world, David Oistrakh. “For me, this is a teacher, I studied with him and played for many years on the collectible Stradivarius violin, which he had played for 16 years before,” noted the head of the festival, People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Stadler.

The festival is supported by the Committee for Culture. It has been organized by Petersburg-Concert for several years. The program will finish on October 16 on the stage of the Menshikov Palace with a chamber concert.
